Today’s Track – Lauren, Men I Trust

This song has been in constant rotation as I’ve been traveling around Europe this week. A mellow yet slightly uptempo tune that gently reminds me “I can’t stay forever”… Lauren – the single – by Men I Trust, 2016.

Today’s Track – Don’t You Know, Kungs

I leave for Europe tomorrow; off to take in the Maison et Objet trade fair in Paris, and do a bit of shopping and exploring some other areas. So, I thought something French would be good to get me in the mood. And while this track doesn’t sound typically French per se, it is bonifiedly (which is technically not a real word) out of Aix-en-Provence. Don’t You Know by Kungs, 2016.

Today’s Track – Rain Water, Brother Ali

I’ve been in Atlanta this week, walking the Gift Show and exploring the retail scene. But truth be told, I’m a little homesick. (Can that be right? I’m usually  pretty “present”, wherever I am.) Anyway, maybe a dose of Minneapolis sound will tide me over ’til my flight home. Rain Water by Bother Ali from the album Champion, 2004.

Today’s Track – Lovely Day, alt-J

Wow. So, back to reality this week after some time off has proved slightly more chaotic than one would like… I suppose I should have mentally prepared better for life beyond lounging in yoga pants, leisurely lunches with friends and binge watching Game of Thrones. Work just seems quite busy in comparison, no? So, something so so soothing on this lovely day. Lovely Day by alt-J from the album This is All Yours, 2014.

Today’s Track – Exceptional, Babyface

Because 2016 is (thankfully) coming to a close, and a lovely new year is coming our way this weekend to replace it. I’m hoping it is, as the song goes, exceptional. Wishing you all a very happy new year! Exceptional by Babyface from the album Return of the Tender Lover, 2015.

Today’s Track -10,000 Emerald Pools, BØRNS

Not sure why I had to travel to Europe to discover this Los Angeles-via-Michigan artist, but I’m glad I did. Another Shazam win! 10,000 Emerald Pools by BØRNS from the album Dopamine, 2015.

Today’s Track – Under Control, The Internet

It’s getting increasingly busy at work – a swirling hurricane of new ideas and deadlines and mounting to do lists. So, this aptly titled dose of R&B feels right as a reminder that “we got this”. Under Control by The Internet from the Album Ego Death, 2015.

Today’s Track – The Past and the Pending, The Shins

I’ve been traveling a lot lately, which is actually when I have the most dedicated time to just chill under the earphones. This track’s been in constant rotation as a mellowing agent… The Past and the Pending by the Shins from the album Oh, Inverted World, 2001.

Today’s Track – Pretty Wings, Maxwell

Obviously, I’ve been pretty off my game lately. Five years of publishing darn near every week day, and I’m finding myself suddenly flummoxed by the prospect of keeping up the pace. Part of that’s technical difficulties (really, I’ve GOT to get a non-dinosaur computer!), part of it is a busy work and travel schedule, and part of it is that advent of a Minnesota summer – where one tends to carpe every diem possible to get out in the garden and abandon the screen. Anyway, I’m bouncing back in, and seeing if I can find my groove. So today, a track I’ve had in heavy rotation this spring. Just puts me in a good mood. Pretty Wings by Maxwell from he album BLACKsummers’night, 2009.

Today’s Track – Saint Claude, Christine and the Queens

Shazammed this just-released track in France earlier this year whilst enjoying an escargot sandwhich. Yup – tasty. Saint Claude by Christine and the Queens from the album Chaleur Humaine, 2016.
