Design for a Designer

A remarkable collaboration between Croatian design studio Mireldy Design and Mateja Kovac, a Croatian illustrator and academic painter.

Mateja asked us to create a new visual identity and design for the promotional materials of her brand. We found inspiration for her new visual identity in her gestural strokes and the playful color palette which Mateja uses as a starting point in her creative work. With that we emphasize spontaneity and lightness, as well as refined taste in colors and shapes, by which the illustrator attracts us into her intimate world influenced by simple, day-to-day moments.

Fresh Flowers

It’s cold in these parts. REALLY cold. The kinda cold where you imagine maybe staying safely tucked away in one’s home until April or so. And so what I need today is a little happy reminder of things to come, in the form of an assortment KT Smail’s delightful floral illustrations. Ahhhh, that’s better…

KT Smail was born under the purple skies of Scotland and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a First class (hons) degree in Illustration. She now lives in Brooklyn, New York where she works as an illustrator, painter and art director.

Croatia Creations

Fabulous branding by the Croatian design studio Mireldy.  The firm is led by Imelda Ramović and Mirel Hadžijusufović – art directors, designers and illustrators who have been creating together in fields of advertising, art and culture, music and fashion industry for over 10 years.

Bold Branding

Leta Sobierajski is an independent designer and art director based in New York City combining traditional graphic design elements with photography, art, and styling to create utterly unique visuals. Her work is incredibly diverse, ranging from conventional identities to brilliantly bizarre compositions.

Love this identity work she did for RŪH Collective, a London-based fashion brand founded by entrepreneurs and creatives from New York, London, and Istanbul.

RŪH’s clothing is for women whose love of modesty is anything but quiet. It is a movement based on respect, opportunity, and pure possibility. Heavy in illustration and color, RŪH’s identity is defined by the geometric shapes which are built upon the same grid as the typographic identity. The geometry is reminiscent of old block art involving nature and sun, and finished off with a crisp copper foil.

Beautiful Boutique Branding

Ryan Feerer Design Logo

I’m totally hopped up on this lovely identity program by designer/illustrator Ryan Feerer. Created for Betty & June, a contemporary clothing boutique in downtown Abilene, TX, Feerer’s branding vision captures the perfect balance of modern and accessible.

Oh, My Darlin’ Clementine…

Darling Clementine is a small Norwegian design agency that also offers an edited collection of products under the banner: “Darling Clementine Paper Empire” (love that moxie!). I am totally charmed by their scandinavian aesthetic, and ability to create work that is clearly modern yet gives a warm nod to tradition. They also write a nice blog that you can visit by clicking HERE.

Sketchbook Obsession

So I saw this image on Pinterest, but the page it was linked to was an invalid 404 kinda deal. But I had to know who created it. Which is why I LOVE the interwebs, and Google in particular. Simply upload the image on a seach page and – voila – many shiny things to follow! Which led me to discover Portland-based artist Ashley Goldberg – the hand behind this exuberantly expressive page. Totally inspired to start visual journaling again…

Celebrating Celadon

Intriguing. Eclectic. Inspired.

That’s how Celedon describes their Charleston, South Carolina home furnishings shop. It also fittingly characterizes the recent redesign of their brand by J.Fletcher Design. Jay Fletcher, a graduate of the Columbus College of Art & Design, created a deeply compelling branding statement that’s both elegant and contemporary. His simple color palette and smart typography have me, for one, highly motivated to trek down south for a bit of a shop…

Happycentro is a multi-platform Design Agency based in Verona Italy. One of my favorite pieces of theirs is this stunning identity/packaging design for a raw chocolate brand.

Our formula for beauty is mixing complexity, order and fatigue. We like contamination between creative disciplines and diversity in general. We don’t like doing same thing twice, and prefer going further what we’re already able to do. It is tiring but satisfying.

Pattern Patterns

Love this branding for Anna & Siena Fashion by Toronto-based designer, Alaa Amra.

Anna & Siena is a fashion line of basic and minimal cloth wear. The design inspiration came from the unique sewing patterns that were used to create the material. The sewing pattern adds energy and fun to the brand with keeping the sophistication through the typography choice and shapes style. The idea of sewing pattern adds a broad range of compositions that can be used for promotion purposes and packaging design.
