Julia by the Sea Drinks Tea

You may have seen the Instagram eye candy produced by England’s Julia by the Sea, but have you noticed her perfectly crafted tea pics? So lovely, they have this coffee-lover tempted to brew up a pot of earl gray.

She was asked to create a brand identity for Sneaky Veg – a blog by a mom named Mandy, whose mission is to get her children to eat more fruits and vegetables. She wanted an identity that communicated the sneaky yet good intentioned methods of making wholesome fruit and veg recipes into firm kid favorites.

Today’s Track – Squares, The Beta Band

I thought something mild and centering for today, from a British group to celebrate my arrival in London today! Squares by The Beta Band from the album Hot Shots II, 2001.

Today’s Track – Holding On, Disclosure

I’m taking the rest of the week off from work in an attempt to refresh and rejigger, and this seemed like a pretty good track to kick things off. Holding On (the single, featuring Gregory Porter) by Disclosure, 2015.

Today’s Track – Loud Places, Jamie xx (feat. Romy)

I’m driving a minivan around San Francisco today, which is quite silly for someone who’s really better suited to a sub-compact (how I get myself into these things is beyond me…). So I’ll play something energizing today to give me the will to parallel park. Wish me luck… Loud Places by Jamie xx (featuring Romy) from the album In Colour, 2015.

Vanessa McKeown Logo

Vanessa McKeown is a London-based art director/photographer who has created an ongoing series “playing with food”, a bright and quirky world in which things are not what they seem at first glance.

I love creating all things colorful, usually from everyday objects being used in unusual ways. Sprinkles make me very happy.

Today’s Track – American Dream, Jakatta

I thought a peppy dose of aptly named chill (yes, that’s a thing) might be a nice way to kick off the holiday weekend. American Dream by Jakatta from the album Chilled (by Ministry of Sound), 2015.

Today’s Track – Getting Away With It, Rose Smith

A little atmospheric electronica out of England today. See, I’m frantically prepping for a two-and-a-half week trip to Asia (bug spray with 50% DEET? Check…), and need a little chill time to help me center. Getting Away With It by Rose Smith from the album Dawn Raiding, 2002.

Today’s Track – Happiness, Goldfrapp

With my mind on the very real possibility of being able to dig in the dirt soon – and actually enjoy fresh air without the protection of my down coat, I’m in a pretty darn good mood. Ergo, today’s perky ode to joy. Ah, spring, I’ve missed you. Welcome back. Happiness by Goldfrapp from the album Seventh Tree, 2008.

Today’s Track – Latch, Disclosure

Just something a little bouncy today to put some much needed pep in one’s step. Latch (featuring Sam Smith) by Disclosure from the album Settle, 2013.
