Shopping LA – part 1

Thought I’d share a few pics from my visit to Los Angeles earlier this summer. Loving the Cali Casual vibe and great mix of vintage + artisan + modern pieces!

Chin Up, Buttercup!

I was in Los Angeles last month for a little adventure driving up the Pacific Coast Highway to San Francisco (which I highly recommend, BTW). I did a bit of shopping as well, and thought I’d feature one of my favorite home decor shops in the area. H.D. Buttercup seems to be expanding widely (there are now 4 in LA), and it’s no wonder – they stock an eclectic assortment of home decor and furnishings that are pretty unique. Here’s a little sampling… (As always, click to shop!)

Dyed and Gone to Hudson

Fig_Bella_Home_Collection_BannerI had the pleasure of visiting Hudson, NY last week where I discovered so many wonderful little shops! One that I found irresistible (and that did a bit of damage to my pocketbook) was Fig & Bella. They create scarves, wraps, pillows, textiles that are each individually handmade using a modern interpretation of traditional dyeing techniques.

Every Fig & Bella wool, silk, viscose, & tie dye cashmere scarf is individually dyed by hand in the Hudson Valley. All of our pillows are also dyed in our studio, and our candles are hand poured in the USA. Our cashmere is carefully sourced from master artisans and dyers in Nepal, with whom we work closely to produce only the finest quality scarves.

Pillows Start at $60; scarves at $89 (As always, click to shop!)

Fall 2016 Color Trends from Pantone

New colors from Pantone for Fall 2016!

The desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism have inspired a Fall 2016 color palette that is led by the Blue family.

Along with anchoring earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colors also appear throughout the collections. Transcending gender, these unexpectedly vivacious colors in our Fall 2016 palette act as playful but structured departures from your more typical fall shades.Blue skies represent constancy as they are always above us. Grays give a feeling of stability, Red tones invite confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Spicy Mustard Yellows suggest a touch of the exotic.
