Check out these new textile prints by Liberty of London from their new spring summer 2013 collection! “This season’s series, The Flower Show, is a collection of botanical print stories influenced by inspirational visits, artistic collaborations and archival documents. It is a celebration of wonderful and inspiring research, collaborations and a studio passionate about print, and capturing and drawing nature at its simplest and most beautiful.” These gorgeous fabrics run between £22.00 – £45.00 per metre and a simple click of the mouse will take you right to the website to order. (Interested in how these fine fabrics are produced? I’ve included a video of their printing process at the end of this post.)

Maison & Objet – January 2013 Trend Tour – part 1

Maison et Objet Logo

I think I’ve made it clear in the course of writing this blog that in my mind, Maison & Objet – the famed bi-annual exhibition in Paris – is without rival. Simply put, it’s the best, most inspiring trade fair in the world. Maison plays host to a bounty of amazing work by some of today’s most extraordinary designers, curated in a magnificent fashion. It’s a bounty of eye candy for creative thinkers, not to be missed. But alas, sometimes you just can’t attend. Fear not, today’s video (part one of two) provides an edited taste of the invigorating sights at the most recent show.

Today’s featured trend forecast comes from Brase Design, a fashion and home-textile design studio based in Gummersbach, Germany. Below, you’ll find the mood boards they presented at Heimtextile in Frankfurt last month, which convey the essence of the upcoming Spring Summer 2013 season in color, attitude, pattern and style. They’re grouped in five themes: Arts, Charming and Affectionate, Neon, New Renaissance and Traces. Enjoy!

Maison et Objet Winter 2013 Inspirations

Miss Maison & Objet in Paris earlier this month? That’s a shame, really. Maison is – IMHO – the premier home and gift trade show; providing spectacular inspiration and showcasing some of the best designers of our day. (And a visit to Paris every now and then isn’t so shabby either, quite frankly…) So if you’re hungering for a taste of the umbrella trends and overarching themes permeating the January 2013 show; all you need do is watch the following video (in French with English subtitles), aptly named “Vivant” (“Living”).

Spring Summer 2013-14 Trend Colors from The Ultra Bright

TUBlogo

I adore the trend, fashion and color inspiration that The Ultra Bright generates. First of all, I think it’s super cool that they’re a global collective that focuses on local lives and local habits and how they affect our perception of color. Additionally, I think it’s pretty sweet that they offer free content to the general public (many trend companies get indulgently proprietary about that). Here’s what they’re saying about the upcoming season…

Love this look towards trends for spring 2013 by Patternbank, a global trend forecasting company based in the UK. They deliver innovative (and typically spot-on) forecasts, but my favorite thing about them is how incredibly affordable they are! £20 for a digital download makes them a fabulous resource, especially for freelancers. These totally inspiring print and graphics forecasts may have their roots in women’s fashion, but are also applicable in home and giftware categories as well.

Spring Summer 2013 Fashion Trends – Kids

Why do I find kid’s trends so inspiring? I guess because there’s usually such a wonderful sense of play, and vibrant color.  Design Options, a progressive and highly regarded color forecasting company based in Los Angeles, has released three themes expressing upcoming color trends in children’s fashion for the Spring Summer 2013 season: Artrageous, Electric Avenue, and Faded Glory.
