My visit to London last week reminded me that there’s this wonderful space in the British design scene that claims neither the modernity of Terrence Conran nor the more traditional vibe of Liberty. It’s something warm; cosy, comfortable – akin to an aesthetic I associate with an autumnal Martha’s Vinyard or a small, hip town on the coast of Maine blended with an arty dose of urbanity. A  superb example of this compellingly comfy, yet contemporary style is Toast’s Fall 2012 Lookbook (a few examples can be found below)Toast offers a contemporary range of clothing and interior products developed in-house by their design team. Founded in Wales about 15 years ago, they have 9 locations in the UK, as well as catalog/on-line business.
