Today I’ll be flying from Milan to Paris. Which got me thinking about crepes. Which brought back memories of the best crepe I ever had, which wasn’t in Paris at all, but at a perfect cafe in Soho called Palacinka that is, alas, now closed. It was in that spot that I beckoned the waitress over to ask what music we were listening to. She was sweet enough, but couldn’t help giving me one of those pitiful “how could you not know?” kind of looks. Thus, my introduction Norway’s Kings of Convenience. We went directly from the restaurant to the Virgin Megastore in Times Square to buy the CD (this was back when people actually bought CDs…). Take a listen: Failure by Kings of Convenience from their album Versus, 2001.
